What is Gravel Escape?
Gravel Escape is a gravel bike event (MTB's can also be ridden) starting and finishing in Lewes, Sussex.
All routes start from the centre of town and uses green corridors to get into the countryside.
Gravel Escape is a loop taking in the four corners of Sussex.
Will the route distances be accurate?
The 200, 150 and 100 routes are very close to exact distance.
We will be reccing the routes from Spring 2027 onwards to check that the routes are clear and will send out final routes in the week of the event.
Where can I find participant instructions?
The 2026 event instructions can be found here for your information.
Updated 2027 instructions will be sent out 4-6 weeks before the event.
Can spectators access the routes?
Our suggestion is you agree to meet friends and family at agreed locations, such as the feed stations rather than trying to spectate on the route.
What is the age limit for taking part?
This is not a race so we are happy for over 18yr olds to take part on the basis that they are accompanied by someone over the age of 21. We cannot accept under 18's as we will be providing finishers with a beer, and won't be able to manage who is old enough to consume alcohol, and who is not.
Will you have photographers and videographers?
By entering Gravel Escape you are agreeing to allow us to take your photo, or capture you in any videography we take. See the terms and conditions here.
We may use these images / video footage on our website / to help us promote the event in the future.
Where does the event start and finish?
For 2027 we aim to work with the excellent bike friendly cafe Pharmacie in Lewes once again.
